- Blue-gray coloring of the coat in the neck/shoulder area
- Heavily overgrown and dense coat on the forehead, the so called “boss”.
- Bulls have thicker, but shorter horns than cows
- They are larger and more massive than cows
- Larger dewlap, which hangs down low
- Secondary horn growth (Easily recognizable second growth of the horn).

- The best time to hunt an Eland is at sunrise and sunset
- The best chance to hunt a mature bull is during a walk & stalk-hunt
