5. Hunting & fishing
Surf fishing, deep-sea fishing or freshwater fishing in Namibia
Your hunting safari combines perfectly with a fishing trip. Namibia has many great fishing spots, for example:
- the coast (for example Swakopmund, Henties Bay, Torra Bay, Terrace Bay)
- the Caprivi (Kavango, Zambezi and Kwando Rivers) for the legendary tigerfish in northern Namibia
- the Orange River in the south, on the border with South Africa
Namibia’s wild Atlantic coast is ideal for deep-sea and surf fishing, and there are many beautiful freshwater rivers. Most fishing in Namibia is catch & release, to protect fish stocks.
Diving for rock lobster on the coast is a lot of fun, too. Many locals spend time in Swakopmund catching rock lobster, which is then grilled fresh on the beach at a traditional “braai”.
Every region is unique, whether on the coast, in the north or in the south. These remote areas offer peace and quiet and a place to switch off in nature.
