Indigenous to Namibia
Historical habitat range in the entire country, except for the Zambezi region
- Strong, rustic build and powerful neck
- Bulls have much thicker horns than an Oryx cow already from the base of the horns
- Base of horn is hardened and flakes off easily
- Fractures and growth cracks on the horns
- Due to reduced testosterone levels, there is a lighter discoloration of the horns
- Horns are shorter due to wear and tear from use (e.g. fighting with other bulls)
- Secondary horn growth (Easily recognizable second growth of the horn)

- They are common throughout Namibia, except in the Caprivi Strip
- They are perfectly adapted to savannah and desert areas as well as shrub & grasslands
- In the midday heat, oryx bulls like to graze in open areas
- The best time to hunt an oryx is at sunrise and sunset
- The best chance to hunt a mature bull is during a walk & walk-hunt
