- Kudu bulls wear horns, while a kudu cow has no horns
- Bulls are also larger and have a thick, strong neck
- Secondary horn growth (easily recognizable second growth of the horn)
- Fully hardened and worn horn base
- Whether the tips point outward or not has nothing to do with age, but with genetics. However, especially old bulls can – even if only in rare cases – achieve a 2.5-fold rotation of their horns

- Kudu bulls are often found in small herds with other bulls
- Cows usually run in herds with their offspring
- They are common throughout Namibia
- They are perfectly adapted to savannah, desert, shrub & grassland areas
- In the midday heat, kudu bulls like to graze under trees and bushes to protect themselves from the sun
- The best time to hunt a kudu is at sunrise and sunset.
- Walk & stalk-hunting will get you the best chance to find a mature bull
