Historical habitat range mostly in the south and west, but also in the Khomas Highlands
- Bucks have strong and broadly formed horns
- Whether the horn tips point backward on a buck is not an indication of age, but has to do with genetics
- Fully hardened horn base and worn features on the horn
- Secondary horn growth (easily recognizable second growth of the horn)

They are perfectly adapted to savannah and desert areas as well as shrub & grasslands - Are fond of open areas where they have a good all-round view
- Males are territorial
- In the rainy season often several herds join together
- Bachelor groups, i.e. young bucks, can be found together
- The best chance to hunt a mature buck is on a walk & stalk hunt
